Domestic Violence Caseloads

The Yuma County Adult Probation Department has three specialized caseloads for domestic violence. One each for Superior Court felonies, Municipal and Justice Court sentences (high risk), and a partial Intensive Probation caseload.  All officers that work in this area receive specialized training in domestic violence.  Most probationers that are placed on these caseloads receive both the Standard Conditions of Probation and the Domestic Violence Special Regulations, while intensive probationers would also be under Intensive Probation Regulations. While domestic violence offenses can vary drastically on types and dangerousness, the Department views and supervises all cases with much caution and numerous requirements.  In most cases the defendant and victim cannot maintain contact with each other until the defendant fulfilled all counseling requirements and approval from the counselor and the probation officer.  On occasion, the judge can allow contact immediately upon being placed on probation.
